Date and place of birth: 17 October 1951, Jakarta.

Career:
  • 1976 - Timor Leste, member of Tim Nanggala X special unit of Kopassanddha (later called Kopassus);
  • 1983 - Timor Leste, major Kopassus Detachment 81 (D81), involved in massacre in Kraras 1983;
  • 1985-1993 - Kostrad (Komando Cadangan Strategis Angkatan Darat: Army Strategic Reserve Command) is the Indonesian Army's Strategic Reserve Command. Kostrad is a Corps level command which has up to 35,000 troops.
  • 1988-1989 - Timor Leste, commander of Kostrad combat Battalion 328
  • 1993-1994 - Kopassus, commander Group 3, a special forces training unit in Batujajar, West-Java;
  • 1994-1995 - Kopassus, deputy commander;
  • 1995-1998 - Kopassus, commander; involved in kidnappings 1977-1998; dismissed in August 1998.

In 2008 he left the Golkar and joined political party Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya, Gerindra, and was nominated  presidential candidate in 2009. He joined Megawati Sukarnoputri for President as her deputy. The team earned 26.79 %, with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and his running mate Boediono winning 60.80 %. The third team of candidates (Jusuf Kalla - Wiranto) got 12.41 %.

In the general elections in 2009 the party Gerindra won 4,5 % of the votes in the legislative election (DPR), 26 seats of a total of 560.


It is expected that he will again stand as a candidate in the presidential
elections in 2014 (Kompas and Kompas).

Trial procedures: 

By decision of the Honorary Council for Officers (Dewan Kehormatan Perwira, DKP) Prabowo was dismissed from his position in the army in August 1998 for exceeding orders
in relation to the kidnapping of anti-Suharto activists (Kompas). After that he lived abroad for a number of years, but no formal procedure has been carried out.
